Principle Investigator:
Cowley, Allen W., Jr., Ph.D.;
Peter J. Tonellato Ph.D.
The Goals:
The NIH Molecular Genetics of Hypertension Specialized Center
of Research (SCOR), provides an environment using multi-media
computers as well as physiological and biomathematical research,
for the study of hypertension. The SCOR project has been confined
to three populations: a rat population, a French Canadian population,
and an African American population. This project studies the genes
that cosegregate with hypertension and with phenotypes associated
with hypertension in a genetically isolated population with F
cross of normotensive Brown, Norway and hypertensive Dahlsalt-sensitive
rats with phenotypic trails similar to African Americans and French
Canadians to define hypertension susceptibility loci.
